Renewable Heating System 2008
This 420 sq metre timbre frame house and apartment annex completed in 2008 comprises of 5 heating zones in total. The main house has down stairs under floor heating and upstairs radiators; the apartment has radiators for its living and sleeping zones; both house and apartment have a common domestic hot water supply via an 800 litre tank in tank combination vessel.
All zones are feed by this combination tank which is serviced by an 18Kw ground sourced heat pump using 300m of vertical bore holes. The combination tank is also fitted with a solar coil and with solar pipe already ran in the stud walls to the attic this renewable energy heating system is solar ready.
Two separate bespoke control panels were required; one for each building but the apartment was only allowed to change the set points of its own space heating. The thermostats communicated with the panels which then had to communicate with each other as well as the heat pump.
